These day hosting a film and television award show can be a difficult task. Last year the Oscars decided to go without a host when Kevin Hart dropped out after some old controversial tweets Hart posted were discovered. It has also recently been reported by the New York Times that this year’s Oscar award show will also be going without a host.
Recently Ricky Gervais made headlines for the way he hosted this year’s Golden Globes award show. Many people are divided on how Gervais handled his hosting duties. Some people thought his jokes were harsh and unnecessarily mean spirited, while others applauded his humor as an unapologetic look at various controversies and hypocrisy that dominate Hollywood today.
The Golden Globes have already decided on who will be hosting the 2021 award show. According to Collider Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will be hosting next year’s Golden Globes together. Both Fey and Poehler are alumni of NBC’s Saturday Night Live, and the two women have worked together on various different projects. Fey is also famous for creating and starring in the NBC comedy 30 Rock, and many people recognize Poehler for her lead role on Parks and Recreation. This will not be the first time that the two women have served as the hostesses for the Golden Globes. The women hosted back in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
