For about fifty years, Scooby Doo has become one of the most iconic and popular cartoon characters of all time. Spawning endless movies and TV shows, many are curious to see what’s next for the Mystery Gang for their 50th anniversary. Luckily, Warner Bros Animation has a new CGI animated film featuring the character known as Scoob! set for next year, releasing its first trailer today.
This trailer for Scoob! mostly centers around Shaggy and Scooby-Doo’s relationship, showcasing their obsession with snacks as to be expected. It also flashes back to Shaggy and Scooby as kids meeting for the first time, along with the rest of the mystery gang. This eventually leads into Shaggy and Scooby being abducted by the Falcon Fury ship from another Hanna-Barbera show, Dynomutt Dog Wonder. Although nothing else has been shown outside of those scenes, it has been stated that this new Scooby-Doo movie will be a start of a Hanna-Barbera cinematic universe. Therefore the Mystery Gang will interact with other well known Hanna Barbera characters including the Blue Falcon and Captain Caveman.
So far, Scoob! looks to be an adorable addition to the long running Scooby-Doo franchise. The new CGI designs for the characters are very faithful to their original cartoonish appeal and the bond between Scooby and Shaggy seems to be a major element, with the trailer mostly focusing primarily on their origins. With all that in place, Warner Bros seems to be giving Scooby-Doo fans something fairly promising for what looks to be a very big year for animation.
Scoob! is set for release May 15th 2020. Watch the full trailer below:
