Kaya Scodelario, best known for her co-starring role in The Maze Runner series, is in negotiations to star in Paramount’s low-budget horror/thriller, Crawl. The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news.
Alexandra Aja, the director behind the surrealist Daniel Radcliffe film Horns, as well as Piranha 3D, will be helming the picture. She also wrote the most recent draft of the script, which was originally written on spec by Shawn and Michael Rasmussen. Spider-Man director, Sam Raimi, is producing the film.
The story will follow a young woman who is trying to save her father during a Category 5 hurricane, but is trapped inside her house while it floods and is left to fight off the deadliest creatures of the region.
Scodelario most recently appeared in Maze Runner: The Death Cure, the third and final installment in the YA series. She will soon be seen acting alongside her husband, Benjamin Walker (The Choice) in The King’s Daughter, and in the Ted Bundy biopic Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.
