Jason Statham is flexing his muscles yet again- this time, in China.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the action-thriller actor has brokered a dual deal with STX Entertainment and Chinese production company Tencent Pictures to star and co-develop- what else- an action film.
Details on the film’s plot and concept have yet to be released, but viewers can expect the Statham staples: martial arts, tons of fighting, and crashing cars.
Evidently, Statham has been interested in a potential role in the Chinese film industry for quite some time, but he’s no stranger to Chinese viewers, even beyond the Fast and Furious franchise. His 2002 movie, The Transporter, also put him on the map there, as it involved two very famous figures from the country, both onscreen and offscreen with action filmmaker Corey Yuen from Hong Kong behind the camera and featured Tiawanese actress Shu Qi portraying a role beside Statham.
For those who can’t wait for more movies from the actor, Statham will also star in the sci-fi adventure movie Meg (set to be released on August 10, 2018), with Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black), actor Masi Oka (Heroes), and Chinese superstar actress Li Bingbing (The Forbidden Kingdom).
