According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate has picked up worldwide rights to Flarsky and will release it under its Summit Entertainment label. The comedy re-teams funnyman Seth Rogen with director Jonathan Levine (50/50) and screenwriter Dan Sterling (The Interview). Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron (The Huntsman: Winter’s War) stars opposite Rogen.
The Black List script by Sterling centers on a self-destructive, unemployed journalist (Rogen), down on his luck and battered by life, who decides to make a big life change and pursue his childhood crush (Theron). Trouble is, said crush has grown up to become a gorgeous and powerful VIP in the world, so how can he possibly succeed?
Lionsgate’s Acquisitions and Co-Production president Jason Constantine said in a statement, “We are thrilled to be in business with Point Grey Pictures, Denver and Delilah Films and Good Universe on Flarsky. Jonathan Levine is the perfect director to bring Dan Sterling’s hysterical screenplay to the big screen with our two very talented stars, Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen.”
Rogen, through Point Grey, and Theron, through Denver & Delilah, are producing along with Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Beth Kono and A.J. Dix. Executive producers are Sterling alongside Good Universe’s Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake.
Production on the title is scheduled to start this fall.
