We are getting closer and closer to knowing who will be portraying everybody’s favorite space rascal. Disney and LucasFilm have released a shortlist of actors in the running to play a young Han Solo for their upcoming untitled Star Wars spin-off film.
After perusing through thousands of actors, a list has been compiled of a list of their favorites. The list includes Miles Teller (The Spectacular Now), Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars), Dave Franco (21 Jump Street), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), Scott Eastwood (The Longest Ride), Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson & The Olympians), Emory Cohen (Brooklyn), and Blake Jenner (Everybody Wants Some).
The studios’ main goal is for the actor to be between the ages of 20 and 25. All but one of the names on the shortlist fits that qualification–Eastwood, who’s 29. A few details have to be dealt with before making a final decision, but tests will be conducted soon and an announcement should follow here in the next couple of weeks. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the team behind The LEGO Movie and 21 Jump Street franchise, will direct the anticipated film.
Although the Han Solo film doesn’t start shooting for another year, the actor choice must be made soon due to a possible cameo in this December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars movie, which will take place between Episodes III and IV.
The Han Solo spinoff film is set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
