Ice Cube (22 Jump Street) and Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses 2) are in talks to star in New Line’s new buddy comedy Fist Fight. The movie will follow a mild-mannered English teacher (Day) who finds himself in a fist fight with a colleague (Cube) who is convinced the English teacher is behind a plot to get him fired.
Cube recently had success with another buddy comedy, Ride Along, where he played what looks like a similar role opposite Kevin Hart (The Wedding Ringer). Day, on the other hand, has struggled to find his next comedy franchise after Horrible Bosses 2 disappointed critics and audiences. He will be seen next in the sequel/reboot to the Vacation series and the family dramedy The Hollars. Cube is currently promoting the biopic Straight Outta Compton. Ride Along 2 is currently in post production and he’s about to start shooting Barbershop 3.
First-time feature writers Van Robichaux and Evan Susser wrote the script for Fist Fight. The pair is also working on the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog movie. No director has been announced at this time, though Shawn Levy (director of The Internship, Real Steel, and the Night at the Museum franchise) leads the group of producers on the project.
