Miley Cyrus revealed that her recent involvement in James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash was not entirely accidental. The Grammy-winning singer performed, co-wrote and co-produced the film’s end-credits song, Dream As One, which appears in the third installment of the blockbuster Avatar franchise.
Cyrus first crossed paths with Cameron at a Disney event where both were honored as Disney Legends. The former Hannah Montana star made history at the ceremony as she was the youngest person ever to receive the distinction.
“‘Just lemme know if you ever need any music,” Cyrus recalled telling Cameron, adding, “James actually calls us ‘Legends in law.’”
This wasn’t the first time Cyrus has approached a notable Hollywood A-Lister. She contributed a Golden-Globe-nominated song to Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl (2024) after a conversation with Jamie Lee Curtis.
Asked whether directly pitching herself to filmmakers is her strategy for getting her music in movies, Cyrus said, “That’s why I went to the Oscars this year… Everybody that came up and introduced themselves, I said, ‘Well, if you need any music, I’m around.’”
