The Resident Evil reboot, which is being helmed by Barbarian and Weapons director Zach Cregger, has added three new actors to its cast. Additions include Severance actor Zach Cherry, True Detective actor Kali Reis and Johnno Wilson. Austin Abrams, known for his role in Weapons as the drug addict James, was also previously announced to be part of the film’s cast.
Cregger will direct this Resident Evil movie, with the script written by him and Shay Hatten, screenwriter of the third and fourth installments of the John Wick franchise. The film is being produced by Robert Kulzer, through Constantin Film, Roy Lee and Miri Yoon through Vertigo Entertainment, and Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan through PlayStation Productions. The executive producers of the film are Oliver Berben, through Constantin Film, and Victor Hadid, through Davis Films.
Plot details on the film are still being kept under wraps. All that is known is that Zach Cherry will be playing a scientist at a hospital, while Kali Reis will be playing an ex-military character. Johnno Wilson’s role, as well as all other plot or character details, aren’t currently known.
This new, currently untitled, Resident Evil reboot is set to begin filming in mid-October. It will be released theatrically by Sony Pictures Entertainment on Sept. 18, 2026.
