It’s not a bird, nor is it a plane. A brand new trailer for Superman has just dropped, coinciding with tickets going on sale. 

As the last son of Krypton, Clark Kent has to balance his humble upbringing as the adopted son of Jonathan and Martha Kent, while honing his superpowers thanks to his alien heritage. But his morals are put to the test as Lex Luthor continues with one nefarious plan after another, trying to break the man of steel’s will and defeat him once and for all. 

Whereas many of the other trailers focused on Superman himself, this new one takes a different approach. More is shown for Luthor, specifically divulging his plans for Superman. On top of his own experiments, he also sets his sights on those Superman holds dear, using his intellect to figure out just how to break his world. 

Despite a shift of importance to Luthor, it’s not without plenty of super feats for Superman. The most notable of these is seeing his heat ray vision, which hasn’t been shown as of yet. On top of that, more is shown of him taking on a gigantic kaiju, fighting alongside Krypto, and quite literally knocking the teeth out of his opponents. 

David Corenswet leads the film as Clark Kent himself, following the latest actor to play Superman, Henry Cavill. Nicholas Hoult plays opposite as Lex Luthor, alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner.
