Amazon Studios has unveiled the much-anticipated trailer for Foe, a sci-fi drama featuring Saoirse Ronan, Paul Mescal, and Aaron Pierre. Directed and co-written by Garth Davis, known for Lion, the film adapts Iain Reid’s bestseller into a haunting exploration of marriage, identity, and humanity’s clash with artificial alternatives.
Set in 2065, Foe follows Hen (Ronan) and Junior (Mescal), a married couple leading a tranquil life on their ancestral farm. Their world shifts when an unexpected visitor (Pierre) presents a startling proposal: Junior is chosen for an experimental space station orbiting Earth, leaving behind a robotic replacement for Hen.
Premiering at the New York Film Festival from September 29th to October 15th, Foe releases in the US on October 6th, Canada on October 13th, Australia on October 19th, and the UK and Ireland on October 20th.
With Davis directing and producing alongside See-Saw Films, Foe weaves a tale of human emotions and technological frontiers. The film prompts viewers to ponder the intricate balance between relationships and innovation in a world on the cusp of change.
Drawing comparisons to Black Mirror, Foe challenges us to reflect on the implications of technology redefining human connection. As it ventures into uncharted territory, Foe promises an enigmatic cinematic journey that resonates long after the screen fades to black. Watch the trailer below:
