Technological companies Adobe, Flanders Scientific, and Kino Flo will be given Engineering Excellence Awards from the Hollywood Professional Association. Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) is the group that represents Hollywood suppliers who specialize in postproduction and technology.
Adobe is to be honored for its Text-Based Editing feature, found in its Premiere Pro editing software. The software can analyze video clips and provide break-down transcriptions that can identify individual speakers in the clip. It’s designed to speed up the process of creating a rough cut, allowing for searching for words and phrases, cutting sentences, and rearranging dialogue.
Flanders Scientific will receive an award for its XMP550 55-inch UHD resolution HDR and SDR reference mastering monitor. As the Hollywood Reporter states, the monitor offers a QD-OLED panel with 2,000 nits peak luminance and 4,000,000:1 contrast. The monitor can run those specs while also meeting requirements for Dolby Vision mastering.
Kino Flo will be awarded for its Mimik 120 image-based lighting fixture, which can sync to an XR projection, to provide foreground lighting.
“In the midst of a revolutionary time in media and entertainment, it was exciting to see the caliber and number of entries to the Engineering Excellence awards this year. Our esteemed judges remarked on the true innovation and advancement in our industry depicted in the presentations,” said the engineering committee chair Joachim Zell of HPA.
The awards will be presented on November 9th during the annual HPA Awards ceremony in Hollywood.
