Marvel Studios released the official trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder yesterday, and it had a big reveal: Christian Bale has joined the MCU.
It seems like there’s always someone new joining the universe. In the new Doctor Strange sequel, John Krasinski from The Office made an appearance. And it seems its now Bale’s turn, making a leap from his days as Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.
This is the first time Thor is returning to the big screen since Avengers: Endgame, but this movie is a sequel to the smash hit Thor: Ragnarok.
Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman. The film follows Thor looking for “inner peace,” but his spiritual journey is halted by Gorr the God Butcher (Bale), who is trying to destroy the gods. With the help of Valkyrie, Jane Foster (Portman), Korg (Waititi), and the Guardians of the Galaxy; Thor will attempt to stop Gorr before it’s too late.
When Portman discussed her return to the MCU in 2020, she detailed that her character will be battling cancer. Waititi also had a few words to say, noting this film is the “craziest” thing he’s ever done.
Thor: Love and Thunder premieres July 8, 2022.
