The first trailer for A24’s highly anticipated dark comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies was released today. The film features a group of 20-something-year-old friends locked inside during a hurricane party at a lavish mansion. Things take a turn when they decide to play “bodies bodies bodies” during the lockdown.
The film features a star-studded cast of Amandla Stenberg, Maria Bakalova, Myha’la Herrold, Chase Sui Wonders, Rachel Sennott, Lee Pace, and Pete Davidson. It initially premiered at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival and is set to debut in theaters on August 5.
Owen Gleiberman, a Variety film critic, noted that the film “with its restless camera movement and improv-style acting and general overdramatic rambunctiousness, is like ‘And Then There Were None’ staged by John Cassavetes for the age of Instagram.”
The party presented an opportunity for Stenberg’s character Sophie, fresh out of rehab, to introduce her new girlfriend Bee to her group of friends. However, when their mystery game ends in a murder, the party takes a quick investigative turn.
Halina Reijn directed the film, and this will be her debut English film. Sarah DeLappe penned the screenplay with Ali Herting and David Hinojosa producing. Stenberg, Sebastian Bear-McClard, Dani Bernfeld, DeLappe, Christine D’Souza Gelb, and Jacob Jaffke will executive produce.
