The producers of John Wick, Sicario, and Greenland have another action-thriller in store for audiences this spring with The Contractor. Chris Pine returns to the big screen as an action hero since his tenure as Captain Kirk in the Star Trek reboot and his most recent action appearance as Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman 1984.
Paramount released the film’s synopsis in a statement:
Chris Pine stars in the action-packed thriller as Special Forces Sergeant James Harper, who is involuntarily discharged from the Army and cut-off from his pension. In debt, out of options and desperate to provide for his family, Harper contracts with a private underground military force. When the very first assignment goes awry, the elite soldier finds himself hunted and on the run, caught in a dangerous conspiracy and fighting to stay alive long enough to get home and uncover the true motives of those who betrayed him. Also starring Kiefer Sutherland, Ben Foster, Gillian Jacobs and Eddie Marsan.
Tarik Saleh directs the film from a script by J.P. Davis. Saleh also directed an episode of Westworld and the 2017 film The Nile Hill Incident.
The Contractor will be released in theaters and on the streaming platform Paramount+ on April 1, 2022.
