Immortal is a fantastic short film that makes you think and leaves you wanting more. The short focuses on a scientist experimenting on a patient with algae that she believes will extend human life. It is soon revealed that her obsession with her experiment has hurt her relationship with her girlfriend and she is struggling to find the balance between work and home life. She may be on the verge of discovering something that prevents death but in the process she seems to have ruined her own life,
This short has traces of Re-Animator and Black Mirror but is careful to never fully venture into the realm of horror. The short is dramatic, tense and is about relationships and the choices we make in life. Immortal is beautiful looking with vibrant colors and cinematography that does a great job of guiding us through the house and workspace. The performances are good but nothing to rave about. However, the writing and directing from Rovert Allair and Natalie Metzger really shines as the story and aesthetic is extremely captivating..

Immortal has fantastic ideas with a small twist that really hits home. The film’s cliff -hanger ending leaves the story open to continuing in many different directions which makes the audience want more. Immortal treads semi-familiar ground while keeping itself unique by focusing on the human aspect of life and relationships.
