Emmy Award Winner and Euphoria star, Zendaya, has been selected to receive a CinemaCon Star of the Year Award. The award will be given at the Big Screen Achievement Awards on April 27 at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The ceremony will also close out the National Association of Theatre Owners’ official convention.
CinemaCon managing director, Mitch Neuhauser, said about the award: “In just a few short years, Zendaya has captured audiences’ attention with her compassionate performance on the small screen as Rue in Euphoria and has drawn audiences in on the big screen with her performances in Spider-Man: Far From Home, The Greatest Showman and Dune.”
Zendaya was a breakout star from her early days on the Disney Channel, starring in Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover. After making a name for herself in films like The Greatest Showman and Malcolm & Marie (in which she also served as producer), she garnered back-to-back Emmy wins for best actress in a drama series for her role as Rue on HBO’s Euphoria.
This award comes before the release of two of Zendaya’s newest films: Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers on Aug. 11 and the much-anticipated sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two on Nov. 3.
