

The 2022 horror film Barbarian brought Zach Cregger success. The writer and director is back at it with a new film titled Weapons. CinemaCon got a preview of the film and an appearance from Cregger himself. Following with the genre of his first film, the second will also be in the horror genre.
The Hollywood Reporter quoted Cregger as he introduced the teaser “‘The material we’re going to show is the tip of the iceberg.”’ He kept his talk brief since the movie is “‘twisty and turny”’ and the “script reinvents itself and unravels as it goes.” He also declared that the CinemaCon footage would most likely not be released to the public. The film is being compared to Paul Thomas Anderson’s film Magnolia, which also follows the disappearance of children.
Deadline gave a brief description of the footage shows, gathering it is about a group [of children who walk out of their homes in the middle of the night and do not return. There are angry parents, clowns, and blood. Again, there is not a lot of information on the film due to the secrecy. But the cast list is out and includes Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, June Diane Raphael, Austin Abrams, Alden Ehrenreich, Benedict Wong, Toby Huss, and others.
The film has quite a bit of buzz around it and is set to release on August 8, 2025.
