With the earlier release of the trailer for Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and now the trailer for Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, it looks as though Hollywood is looking to prove that the girls party as hard as the boys.
Fox released a new trailer for the comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates starring Zac Efron (Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising), Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect 3), Aubrey Plaza (Dirty Grandpa), and Adam Devine (The Final Girls). The film follows two brothers (Efron and Devine) known for being out of control at family get togethers. Now that their sister is getting married, their family is forcing them to find dates that will keep them under control. When the duo announce their search on TV, two girls seize the opportunity to get a free trip to Hawaii by posing as “nice girls” when they are in fact as raucous as Mike and Dave. The movie is based on a true story that includes a viral craigslist ad that the real Stangle brothers posted for this sole purpose.
The movie is the feature directorial debut from Jake Szymanski (HBO’s 7 Days in Hell) and was written by Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien who wrote Neighbors. Kendrick has quite a busy year ahead of her in terms of comedies including the wedding comedy Table 19 and Get a Job in which she stars opposite Miles Teller (Fantastic Four), as well as Mr. Right. Efron has a similarly busy year with The Disaster Artist and the aforementioned Neighbors sequel.
We’ll have more on the film leading up to its July 8 release date. In the meantime you can watch the trailer below.
