Emmy Award-winning writer, director, and producer Karin Kusama has been signed with WME. Kusama is currently executive producer on Showtime’s Yellowjackets. The show earned seven Emmy nominations in 2022. This includes outstanding drama series and Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for Kusama’s direction of the pilot episode. The series also stars Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, and Christina Ricci. Season two of the show will add Simone Kessell, Lauren Ambrose, and Elijah Wood as a new character to the show.
Kusama previously directed the Golden Globe-nominated film Destroyer, starring Nicole Kidman and written by her collaborators Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. Their film, Familystyle Film, currently has a first-look deal with MRC.
Her feature films include the indie thriller The Invitation, Jennifer’s Body, Aeon Flux, and her Cannes and Sundance Award-winning debut Girlfight.
As told by the entertainment magazine Deadline, on the television side, Kusama has directed various episodes of shows. Some include Billions, The Man in Highcastle, Dead Ringer, The Outsider, and The Mysterious Benedict Society, for which Kusama won an Emmy Award for Children’s and Family.
Kusama is currently still being managed by Black Bear Management.
