Writers from ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Confirmed for Sequel

Good news has just arrived for Spider-Man: Homecoming fans! It looks like the film’s writers, Erik Sommers (Drawn Together) and Chris McKenna (The Lego Batman Movie), are signed on for sequel to the hit. Considering the winning formula also managed to elude the venomous reboot curse, this will hopefully result in another enjoyable movie. Many remain grateful to the film for ultimately upending an extremely dry box office turnout during the summer of 2017, one which could be very unforgiving to reboots (such as Tom Cruise’s ill-fated updated version of The Mummy).

Still, some were hoping for a look at a different web-slinger than before, tossing out characters like Miles Morales, Anya Corazon, and Spider-Gwen. However, even if Peter Parker is the current face of arachnid heroes, that doesn’t mean that we won’t see more beloved characters in his same line of work.

And if fans are worried about yet another change in the face behind Peter Parker, there’s no need to fear: Tom Holland will be back for the sequel. In fact, his contract counts on him appearing in at least three more films as Spider-Man.

The sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently slated to appear in theaters on July 5, 2019.
