‘Woody Woodpecker’ Receives English Trailer After Successful Brazilian Release

Woody Woodpecker is an animated character that has existed since the heyday of many classic cartoons, beginning his time in the animation spotlight back in 1940. Over seventy years later, the zany woodpecker has received a CG/live action hybrid film titled Pica Pau: O Filme, which originally released in Brazil, but has now received an English trailer with the simpler name Woody Woodpecker: 

The film will follow the story of the titular character as his home is being destroyed by foresters looking to make some money. It is up to Woody to scare out the money-grubbing adults and convince his newfound friend Tommy Walters to get his parents to leave the forest. The film received a modest $6.7 million in Brazil, which isn’t too shabby, considering that it actually passed the grosses for bigger films like Captain Underpants and The Lego Batman Movie

Woody Woodpecker is being voiced by Eric Bauza (Ducktales) with a supporting cast that includes Timothy Omundson (Psych), Thaila Ayala (The Buzz), Graham Verchere (Fargo), and Scott McNeil (Dragon Ball Z)The film is directed and written by Alex Zamm (Inspector Gadget 2)The film is set to be released on DVD and Blu-ray in the United States on February 6th, 2018.
