The next film from writer-director Woody Allen is titled Magic in the Moonlight and will star Eileen Atkins, Colin Firth, Marcia Gay Harden, Emma Stone, and Jacki Weaver. Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum of Gravier Productions will produce. Along with the title announcement, two photos from shooting in South France have been released.
Woody Allen is a four time Oscar winner with three for Best Original Screenplay, most recently for Midnight in Paris (2011), and one for Best Director for Annie Hall (1978). Magic in the Moonlight will mark the eighth Woody Allen film set in Europe and the second in France. Since Midnight in Paris, Allen wrote and directed To Rome With Love and Blue Jasmine and co-starred in Fading Giglolo. After the critical indifference to Rome, Allen is likely hoping that either Jasmine or Moonlight will bring a return to the success he found with Midnight in Paris and his countless other classics. Unfortunately, no further details about Magic in the Moonlight have been released at this time.
Magic in the Moonlight is scheduled for release in July 26, 2014.
