On the evening of August 22nd, the Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) Awards honored the best of location scouting in film. Top honors at this year’s ceremony were awarded to One Battle After Another and Marty Supreme.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another won Outstanding Locations in a Contemporary Feature Film. The award honors the unique locations used for filming, including Humboldt County, California; Sacramento, Stockton, Eureka, Arcata; San Diego; and El Paso, Texas. Marty Supreme won Outstanding Locations in a Period Feature Film, honoring the film’s on-location shooting across New York, New Jersey, and Tokyo, as well as the production team’s efforts to dress it to look the way those locations did in the 1950s.
In addition, Mike Fantasia, who was the location manager on films like Top Gun: Maverick, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Spider-Man: Homecoming, received a Lifetime Achievement Award. Another award honored showrunner Vince Gilligan for his commitment to on-location filming and his use of location in his storytelling, particularly in his most recent series, Plurbius.
Nancy Haecker, the LMGI Awards Chair, provided the following statement, following the awards ceremony:
