William Hurt Joins Helen Hunt in ‘Live Like Line’

Deadline reports that Oscar-winning actor William Hurt (Captain America: Civil War) has signed on to star in Live Like Line opposite Oscar-winning actress Helen Hunt (Soul Surfer).

The inspirational sports movie re-teams helmer Sean McNamara (Hoovey) with both Hurt –they recently wrapped up The King’s Daughter – as well as Hunt, whom he directed in 2011’s Soul Surfer. The screenplay is penned by David Aaron Cohen (Friday Night Lights), with revisions by Elissa Matsueda.

The story is based on the true story of Iowa City’s West High School women’s volleyball team whose star player, Caroline “Line” Found (Danika Yarosh), died tragically in a moped accident in 2011. Hurt will play her father who must access his strong faith and move past his grief – not only over his daughter’s death, but also his wife who passed away 10 days later – to help inspire the team, especially Caroline’s best friend Kelly (Erin Moriarty) who must now replace her as team captain. Helping the team’s efforts to win the state championship is tough-love coach Kathy Bresnahan, who will be played by Hunt.

LD’s Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon and Scott Holroyd will produce along with Apex Entertainment’s Mark Ciardi (McFarland USA) and Campbell McInnes. LD Entertainment’s Jennifer Monroe is executive producing.

Hurt, who was most recently seen in Captain America: Civil War, will next star in the new Amazon series Goliath opposite Oscar-winning actor Billy Bob Thornton (Our Brand is Crisis).

Shooting will begin early next month in Vancouver.
