Will ‘Walking Dead’ star Norman Reedus Be MCU’s Next Ghost Rider?

Entertainment Weekly reports that Norman Reedus has fueled fan speculation that he’ll play the MCU’s Ghost Rider.

The Walking Dead star has gathered a large fan base over the many years of playing Daryl Dixon and his viewers want to see his dream of playing the Spirit of Vengeance come true. Fans have been tweeting about how enthusiastic they are to see Reedus take up the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and lately the actor has been fueling speculation by liking dozens of those tweets on his verified account.

Reedus also tweeted a link to an Instagram post from a fan account hinting that the role is his, and according to sources, the actor is Marvel’s choice to play the Ghost Rider.

Reedus spoke about his aspiration earlier this summer: “I want to play Ghost Rider. The Ghost Rider conversation has been coming up for years, and yeah, tell them to put me in it.”

Marvel’s Ghost Rider is the incarnation of the Spirit of Vengeance. The Rider’s distinct look is well-known: a flaming skull for a head, a black leather jacket, a weaponized chain whip, and a motorcycle powered by the fires of hell. Multiple Marvel characters have assumed the Spirit over the years, but the first, Johnny Blaze, remains the most famous.

The character was first portrayed on screen by Nicolas Cage in 2007’s Ghost Rider and its 2012 sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. A Hispanic character named Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna) portrayed a different version, driving a hellfire car instead of a motorcycle in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It was rumored in 2019 that Luna’s Ghost Rider might star in his own Hulu series, but those plans fell through.

If Reedus gets the part, he would most likely play the Blaze version since the actor is a big fan of motorcycles. It’ll definitely be a long-awaited match made in hell for his fans.
