In advance of the information leaking, Paul Feig, director of the upcoming distaff Ghostbusters reboot took to Twitter to announce the addition of another alum of the 1984 original to the cast. Per Feig’s feed:
Gang, trying to keep surprises but this is about to leak, so I’ll tell you myself: the awesome Sigourney Weaver is going to be in our movie!

Golden Globe winner Weaver (Chappie) will join previously announced original cast members Bill Murray (Rock the Kasbah), Dan Akyroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts in the reboot. It has not been confirmed yet whether any of the returnees will reprise their characters from the original.
In addition to her Ghostbusters appearance, Weaver is slated for the next three Avatar films.
Ghostbusters stars Melissa McCarthy (Spy), Kristen Wiig (The Martian), Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones as a team of female ghost wranglers. Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Andy Garcia co-star.
Helmer Feig reunites with his Bridesmaids stars McCarthy and Wiig, directing from a script he co-wrote with Katie Dippold (The Heat). Ghostbusters, which recently wrapped production, is set for a July 2016 release.
