While Marvel has just released the new Infinity War: Part One trailer, featuring plenty of famous characters ranging from the Guardians of the Galaxy to the Avengers to villains Loki and Thanos, they have yet to give any truly revealing content from the much-anticipated Captain Marvel film. So far, there has been slight explanation of the confusing timeframe: the Brie Larson-starring story will take place in the nineties.
Now, it looks like one the latest mysteries for the Carol Danvers-centric movie has had a recent development: recently-cast actor Ben Mendelsohn (Una) will most likely perform as the antagonist Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel. Though Yon-Rogg’s roots lie in his connection with alien Mar-Vell (A.K.A. the original male Captain Marvel), he’s also the reason why Carol Danvers dons the mantle, first of Ms. Marvel and then of the Captain. Though Yon-Rogg aims to murder her, his attempt goes so completely awry that he ends up giving Danvers her superpowers instead.
Mendelsohn will be joining Larson (Kong: Skull Island), Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction), and recently-announced addition Jude Law (Spy).
With over a year until Mendelsohn appears as Yon-Rogg, he will also act in other projects before that, such as Ready Player One and Robin Hood. Captain Marvel will fly into theaters on March 6, 2019.
