Whitney Peak (Gossip Girl, Hocus Pocus 2) has been cast in Joseph Kosinski’s newest film, Miami Vice ’85. The film is backed by Universal and also stars Michael B. Jordan, Austin Butler, and Alden Ehrenreich. The film is expected to explore the good and the bad of the Miami underground in the 80’s. It is said to be based off the pilot episode of the original TV series, but as a feature film.
The Miami Vice show followed two undercover cops exploring the criminal underworld of Miami. The duo, Ricardo Tubbs and James Crockett will be played by Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler respectively. Whitney Peak is expected to play Tubbs’ love interest in the film. Joseph Kosinski’s last two films, F1 and Top Gun: Maverick, were both big hits at the box office, so Universal hopes to get a piece of that pie with another Kosinski adaptation.
Whitney Peak is early in her career, with this film being one of her biggest roles to date. She is most known for playing Zoya Lott on the Gossip Girl reboot, Becca in Hocus Pocus 2, and Dakota in the recent Netflix shark thriller Thrash. Aside from Miami Vice, her other upcoming role is in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which releases this November.
Miami Vice ’85 is being filmed for IMAX and is expected to hit theaters on may 19, 2028.
