What Will Pixar’s ‘Lightyear’ Be About?

With the current world climate being so dim, when Pixar announced that a Toy Story spinoff about Buzz Lightyear called Lightyear was in the makes, adults and kids alike got excited. What will the film be about though? We don’t know much about the plot, but according to Cinema Blend, we do know that it will be about the human who inspired the toy and his origin story to become a Space Ranger, but that is about it. It is exciting that audiences will finally get a backstory of Buzz’s life. It has been 10 years since the last Toy Story film came out, so a new generation of parents will be able to watch this spinoff with their children. It hasn’t been confirmed what side characters will be in the film, or if Toy Story characters will make a cameo, but hopefully in the months coming, more information will be released.

There has also been no word on if Tim Allen will make an appearance in the spinoff. Chris Evans has already been confirmed to voice Buzz, so there’s no mention if Allen will make cameo in some form. Since this film is about Buzz’s origin story, it is likely that original Toy Story characters will not make an appearance, but fans can hope. The film will be directed by Angus MacLane and is slated to release on June 17, 2022.
