I studied cinema and economics at USC/USF. I worked in several jobs and internships in entertainment. I did some work as a production assistant and as an intern at a production company and a literary agency. I also worked in theaters and theme parks. I have been an entertainment news writer for mxdwn television and mxdwn movies.
I like Quentin Tarantino’s films. His earlier work “Reservoir Dogs” and “Pulp Fiction” are my favorites, they are based on crime movies. “His works are characterized by graphic violence, extended dialogue often featuring much profanity, and references to popular culture.” (Wikipedia) He made the “Kill Bill” films which were based on samurai movies. He also made some films based on western movies, “Django Unchained” and “The Hateful Eight”. He also owns some theaters in Hollywood such as The New Beverly Theater and the Vista Theater.
Recently he made a film called “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood”. “As Hollywood’s Golden Age is winding down, a television actor and his stunt double endeavor to achieve lasting success.” Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie are in this film. In the film, there is a neat scene with an actor portraying Bruce Lee. They also parodied Western films from the golden age of Hollywood and spaghetti westerns. This movie takes place in 1969 in Los Angeles, California.
They show the Bruin Theatre, which is near UCLA, in this movie and I’ve been there. One of the studio lots in the movie was filmed at Paramount Studios, I have been there too. There are some other films with similar titles I have seen such as “Once Upon A Time In The West” and “Once Upon A Time In America.” Margaret Qualley was in this film and she was recently in another Oscar nominated movie called “The Substance.”
There is a scene in this film where they show a film called “The Great Escape”. Also Margot Robbie’s character watches a film called “The Wrecking Crew” in this movie. DiCaprio improvised in this film. They decorated Hollywood Boulevard to look like the 1960’s. This film won an oscar for best production design. The ending of the movie was dramatic and violent.
“Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” (Book)
Tarantino also wrote a book based on the film. “Quentin Tarantino’s long-awaited first work of fiction — at once hilarious, delicious, and brutal — is the always surprising, sometimes shocking new novel based on his Academy Award- winning film.”(Goodreads) I read the book and it goes more in detail than the film. The book is more of a deep dive character study. It is not a direct adaptation of the film. This was the first book he wrote.
“The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth” (Film)
Eight years after the events of Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood, Cliff Booth returns to a changing Los Angeles. Now working as a fixer in the shadows of the Hollywood studio system, Cliff finds himself entangled in a dangerous web of secrets, crimes and betrayals that will test everything he knows about loyalty and survival.”(Letterboxd) This movie takes place in Los Angeles, California in 1977. The film is going to be directed by David Fincher, who Brad Pitt also worked with on “Se7en” and “Fight Club”. Tarantino was the screenwriter. The film will be released in IMAX on 11/25/26, before its on Netflix on 12/23/26. Brad Pitt won an academy award for his performance as Cliff Booth in the previous film.
“The Adventures of Cliff Booth” (Book)
Quentin Tarantino’s new book “The Adventures of Cliff Booth”, serves as the companion novelization to the movie “The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth.” The new novel will be released on December 8th, 2026. This will be his third book. This author made another book called “Cinema Speculation”. It was “Tarantino’s first work of non-fiction, blending personal memoir, cultural criticism, and deep-dive film theory focused on 1970s American cinema.” (Google)
New Play
Tarantino is also working on a play called “The Popinjay Cavalier”.” Set in 1830s Europe, this rambunctious tale of deception and disguise is Tarantino’s first-ever play, inspired by the grand adventure epics and sparkling romances of stage and screen, including the works of Hollywood’s golden greats – George Bruce, Ernest Vajda and Jesse Lasky Jr.” It will open in England in Spring 2027. Some other film directors who made stage plays are Mike Nichols, Ingmar Bergman, and Orson Wells. Also some theater directors have made films, I saw one called “Tick Tick Boom” that was directed by Lin Manuel Miranda.
I enjoyed the first film and I look forward to seeing this new movie. It is a sequel to the previous film. I know DiCaprio was also in Tarantino’s film “Django Unchained”. Brad Pitt was also in this director’s film “Inglorious Bastards.” I’m wondering if Leonardo DiCaprio’s character, Rick Dalton, will have a cameo in this movie, because he was in the first one. Margot Robbie might also make an appearance in this new film. Another good film that Tarantino wrote was “True Romance”, I’d recommend that one. He also wasn’t the director of that film. I was surprised to see that Tarantino isn’t directing this film, he is probably busy working on his new theater production.
Here is the trailer for the new film:
