A sequel to the Prime Video exclusive rom com Upgraded is in the works at Amazon MGM.
Camila Mendes will reprise her role as Ana in the sequel, but it is unclear if other cast members will return as well, such as Marisa Tomei. Becca Gleason will direct the follow-up, taking over from Carlson Young, who handled the first film. The script was written by Luke Roberts and Justin Matthews, who returned for the sequel. Plot details have been kept under wraps for now, but the film is expected to premiere exclusively on Prime Video. Gulfstream Pictures and Honor Role will be producing the film.
Camila Mendes has worked with Amazon MGM on several films now. Besides upgraded and its upcoming sequel, she also starred in Música and Masters of the Universe for the studio. Becca Gleason is an up and coming director, but she previously wrote and directed the rom com Summer ’03 starring Joey King in 2018.
Upgraded followed Ana (Camila Mendes), a fashion intern who, in trying to impress her boss (Marisa Tomei), travels to London on a work trip. When she is randomly upgraded to first class on the plane, she sparks a romance with the handsome Will (Archie Renaux). She proceeds to pretend to be her boss to impress Will, with each subsequent white lie threatening her career.
