You may have been wondering who the young actor is that starred in Brooklyn opposite Best Actress nominee Saoirse Ronan last year. The NYC native’s name is Emory Cohen and he’s quickly becoming one of the hardest working actors in Hollywood with six films in production that are all scheduled for release this year.
You may have recognized him before in his supporting roles in the well-received 2013 drama The Place Beyond the Pines, which starred Ryan Gosling and Bradly Cooper or his oft-criticized performance in the misbegotten NBC musical Smash. His expanding list of film credits include: By Way of Helena, War Machine, Vincent N Roxxy, Shot Caller, Hot Summer Nights, and Detour. Cohen also received positive reviews for his role in the independent film Stealing Cars last year. If that’s not enough, he is rumored to be on the shortlist of actors to play the lead role in the Untitled Han Solo spinoff.
Cohen is only 25 years old, but has already received significant praise from critics and peers for his dynamic acting performances. Oscar winning actress Cate Blanchett called Cohen’s performance in Brooklyn “extraordinary” during an interview for her role in Carol with Huffington Post.
Emory Cohen has a big year and bright career ahead of him. His next film Stealing Cars will be released on April 5th.
