With the Despicable Me spinoff Minions coming to theaters July 10, Universal has released a trailer for their upcoming animated movie The Secret Life of Pets. The movie examines what our pets do to occupy the time they have when their owners are away.
The movie has an all-star cast of voice actors that includes Ellie Kemper (Bridesmaids), Lake Bell (In a World), Kevin Hart (The Wedding Ringer), Eric Stonestreet (TV’s Modern Family), Louis C.K. (Blue Jasmine), Albert Brooks (Finding Nemo), Hannibal Buress (Neighbors), and Bobby Moynihan (Monsters University). Chris Renaud (Despicable Me 2) and first-time director Yarrow Cheney are directing the movie, which makes sense given their experience on Universal’s other animated projects.
The movie seems to have a lot in common with Pixar’s work, in that it examines what happens when we humans aren’t around, a la the Toy Story series. The Secret Life of Pets is set to be released July 8, 2016. You can watch the trailer below.
