If there’s one genre that thrives on Netflix, it’s the romantic comedy. Couples can only take so many grisly crime dramas before the inherent darkness starts to manifest itself in unhealthy ways. So it’s no surprise that Netflix is making attempts to bring a fresh wave of new romantic comedies to its streaming service. One such attempt is Claire Scanlon’s Set It Up, a workplace comedy about two New York assistants who decide to set up their overworked bosses in an effort to improve everyones’ quality of life.
The two assistants in the film are Harper (Zoey Deutch) and Charlie (Glen Powell), while the high-powered, perpetually stressed bosses are Kristen (Lucy Liu) and Rick (Taye Diggs). Harper and Charlie hatch a series of foolproof plans that will hilariously (and surely heartbreakingly) have the desired effect of their bosses falling in love. There will be plenty of ups and downs, and who knows, maybe the hopelessly attractive Harper and Charlie will also develop some sort of romantic feelings for one another. Nahhhh.
Check out the trailer below. Set It Up releases on Netflix on June 15.
