The official trailer for the upcoming thriller Before I Wake (formerly titled Somnia), directed and co-written by Mike Flanagan (Oculus), has been released via the film’s Twitter account. Before I Wake stars Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns) and Thomas Jane (TV’s Hung) in a chilling story about a couple who take in an eight-year-old boy named Cody (played by newcomer Jacob Tremblay), who is terrified of falling asleep. As the intense trailer shows, there is a sinister reason behind Cody’s terror: his dreams become reality as he sleeps, which means that his nightmares can have horrifying and even fatal consequences.
Flanagan has made a name for himself in the psychological/supernatural horror genres with his previous films, Oculus (2013) and Absentia (2011). He is also attached to direct the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s suspense novel Gerald’s Game and is reportedly co-writing a remake of the classic 1997 slasher film I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Before I Wake, which will be released on May 8, 2015, was co-written by Jeff Howard and also stars Annabeth Gish (TV’s Sons of Anarchy) and Dash Mihok (Ray Donovan). Check out the trailer below.
