Watch the New Behind-The-Scenes Clip From ‘Spectre’

Director Sam Mendes on the set of SPECTRE.

Sony Pictures has released a new behind the scenes featurette for the upcoming entry in the James Bond franchise, Spectre. The second of the video series features director Sam Mendes discussing what brought him back to the franchise and character after directing 2012’s Skyfall.

“The reasons I’m doing the second Bond movie – the reasons I do any movie, really – is all to do with the story. And in this movie, Spectre, what you have is a movie entirely driven by bond. He is on a mission from the very beginning. He is on the hunt…on the trail of somebody. You don’t know why, you don’t know what he’s doing there and that sense that something is up is also tied to the second part – a crucial story in Bond’s childhood. So once that was clear that those huge things were on the table, I knew I had to do it.”

Bond’s past seems to be a big topic of interest for Mendes who brought the character back to his childhood home for the climax in Skyfall. Another point of interest will be the evolving new versions of Q (Ralph Fiennes), Moneypenny (Naomie Harris), and Q (Ben Wishaw).

Along with plot and character details, the video gives us a quick look at 007’s new ride. It’s unclear if he will continue to use the classic Aston Martin that was brought back in the last movie. See if there’s anything else you can find in the clip below. Spectre opens November 6.
