The trailer for All I See Is You, has just been revealed, unveiling actress Blake Lively as the lead. In the chilling new film, Lively will will portray a blind woman whose sight has been restored thanks to a medical procedure. However, it seems like her once-doting husband takes an issue with this new change, perhaps because he believes that she doesn’t need him anymore. Instead, he perceives such a possibility to be a threat.
It appears that the film seems to intend to make commentary over the nuances that vision provides, both physical and emotional, and how that informs relationships. Through this lens (so to speak), the film also seems to be expressing a feminist critique on unfair power dynamics in relationships and the psychological effects that they cause.
Lively, who gained pop culture awareness after playing a lead in the CW television show Gossip Girl, has also starred in films like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants; The Town; and 2011’s Green Lantern film, where she would work with her now-husband, Ryan Reynolds. She will be acting alongside Jason Clark (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), who will play her husband. The film will also feature Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale), Wes Chatham (The Help), and Danny Huston (Wonder Woman).
