The critics prizes keep a-coming. Today, the Washington DC Area Film Critics Association announced their annual prizes for the best achievements in film for the year. They were in a musical mood this year, with Damien Chazelle’s La La Land topping the field earning six prizes from the critics group, including a Best Film and Best Director mention. Casey Affleck and Mahershala Ali both continued their awards take, upping their chances for potential Oscar glory, for their acclaimed performances in Manchester by the Sea and Moonlight, respectively. While Natalie Portman (for Jackie) and Viola Davis (for Fences) earned their prizes of the season.
