‘Warrior’ Director Gavin O’Connor to Direct Remake of the French Crime Drama ‘Tell No One’

The American remake of the 2006 international crime drama Tell No One is being set up as a co-production of Warner Bros. and Universal Pictures, and now Variety reports that Warrior director Gavin O’Connor is expected to sign on to helm the film.  Chris Terrio, Oscar-winning screenwriter of Argo, wrote the screenplay.The original French film was written and directed by Guillaume Canet (who most recently made the Cannes entry Blood Ties with Marion Cotillard and Clive Owen) based on the novel by Harlan Coben.  The plot is a mystery about a doctor who was once accused of the murder of his wife and finds himself in further trouble when two more bodies are found at the same crime scene.  The original film was a hit that starred François Cluzet (The Intouchables), Marie-Josée Croze (The Diving Bell & the Butterfly) and Kristin Scott Thomas.  It was 2008’s highest grossing foreign language film in the United States.

The American remake was first ear-marked for Ben Affleck, whose busy scheduling commitments like Live By Night (his next directorial gig) and his upcoming iteration of Bruce Wayne in Zack Synder’s Batman and Superman forced him to drop out.  O’Connor, who helped leading actress Janet McTeer land an Oscar nomination in 2000 for Tumbleweeds and Nick Nolte a supporting bid in 2012 for Warrior, recently completed principle photography on the controversy-plagued Natalie Portman western Jane Got a Gun.  No casting announcements for Tell No One have been made as of yet, but we will report them as soon as they become available.
