That’s right, the future is here because, according to the Hollywood Reporter, one of the film industry’s oldest movie studios -Warner Bros- has announced their plans to partner with Cinelytic and use the company’s AI to help produce their movies.
Warner Bros. will now be relying on the AI to calculate data and produce analytics to help the studio research what potential films they will greenlight. According to Cinelytic’s founder Tobias Queisser, “The system can calculate in seconds what used to take days to assess by a human when it comes to general film package evaluation or a star’s worth.”
However, according to ScreenRant, Warner Bros has not given the AI any major creative control, and the AI does not possess the ability to predict what movies will be a major hit or flop at the box office. Even Queisser has stated that the AI is incapable of creative decision making. So it sounds like the AI will be primarily assisting the studio in the research phase of movie production, though it still feels really creepy to learn that humans are starting to rely more on computers to create art.
