Warner Bros has unveiled the first full-length trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the long awaited sequel to James Wan’s Aquaman, which to date is Warner Bros’ top-grossing superhero movie. “Four years ago, I was basically unemployed, a wanderer with no home,” Jason Momoa’s title character says in the clip. “But now, I’m a husband and a father. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
The tagline of Lost Kingdom reads, “Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.”
The film has been delayed due to COVID-19 and post-production setbacks, but James Wan is set to return as director along with Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Nicole Kidman reprising their roles.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit theaters on December 20, 2023.
