Oscar-winner Mark Ronson’s 2025 memoir Night People: How to Be a DJ in ’90s New York City, which nostalgically details his rise through various New York venues, has been picked up for film adaptation by Warner Brothers. It is no surprise that Warner Bros. won out over competitors, as Ronson has a long history with the studio. The nine-time Grammy winner has collaborated with Warner Bros. in projects such as A Star is Born and Barbie. He will work as a composer on Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Netflix film, Narnia.
Since its publication last month, the memoir has met critical and commercial success. Night People is both a New York Times Bestseller and Sunday Times Bestseller (UK). In her Guardian review of the book, Nosheen Iqbal praises Ronson’s emphasis on his technical DJ obsessions, for which the more obviously exciting 90s atmosphere of drugs and pre-Guilani excess is merely a backdrop. Ronson’s descriptions of nightlife are preceded by an honest look at how a childhood marked by nepotism and elitism helped shape his passion.
In an interview with Variety last month, Ronson described the memoir’s significance for him: “It ate my life. I’ve turned down production gigs left and right and whatever else it is, but I am proud of it in the way that it’s as good as I could have made it with my whatever, my writing talents.”
Brad Pitt’s Plan B is set to produce the adaptation. Warner Bros. and Plan B have previously worked together on films including F1 and Mickey 17.
