It’s already been a big year for Warner Bros., and the year is still far from over. They’ve officially crossed $4 billion at the box office this year, making them the first company of the year to do so. Although WB hasn’t had a billion dollar title this year, many of its films have been big hits. Their highest grossing of the year, A Minecraft Movie, made a whopping $957 million worldwide, per BoxOfficeMojo. WB also saw the new DC Universe kick off with Superman, which hit $615 million worldwide, with two other films in the universe slated for release next year.
Other big hits for WB this year included The Conjuring: Last Rites, which wound up far exceeding its estimates for opening weekend. Sinners was also a huge success for the company, especially thanks to the demand for the film in IMAX.
ScreenRant noted that out of the $4 billion, $2.2 billion comes from worldwide grosses, while roughly $1.8 billion comes from stateside grosses. ScreenRant also stated that WB hasn’t had a year like this since 2019. Although they’ve had successes like Barbie in 2023, 2019 yielded better overall results, spread across films like IT: Chapter 2 and Detective Pikachu, among others.
