Walt Disney Animation Studios has unveiled the official trailer for Hexed, an original supernatural coming-of-age fantasy feature directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn (Wish) and Jason Hand (Moana 2). The film is scheduled for a wide theatrical rollout over the Thanksgiving holiday on November 25, 2026.
Written by Walt Disney Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller, the animated feature follows Billie Doe (voiced by Academy Award nominee Hailee Steinfeld), an unconventional teenager whose everyday suburban life is upended when she discovers dormant magical powers. The revelation catapults Billie and her cautious mother, Alice (Rashida Jones), across dimensional boundaries into Hexe, a secluded realm inhabited by eccentric witches and fantastical creatures. As the duo navigates the unfamiliar domain to untangle suppressed family secrets, they run up against an encroaching threat that jeopardizes the balance of both worlds.
The supporting voice ensemble features Walton Goggins (Fallout) as Beef Roger Crumbchuck, a reclusive three-eyed magical cat; Tracey Ullman as Ms. Quill, an enchanted sentient feather pen; Stephen Fry as Elias Quire, a talking mystical journal; and two-time Academy Award winner Jodie Foster as Queen Celeste, the ruthless monarch of Hexe.
Produced by Roy Conli (Big Hero 6, Tangled) and Yvett Merino (Encanto), Hexed represents the studio’s 65th full-length feature in the canonical Walt Disney Animation lineage and its first fully original, non-franchise theatrical animated release since 2023’s Wish. Standard theatrical screenings will be paired with the animated short film Lilo & Scratch.
