Today has been a big day for movie fans as announcement after announcement comes rolling in from D23, and as always, Marvel is no exception.
The long awaited trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has finally been released to the public. Wakanda Forever will be the final film in Phase Four and is directed by Ryan Coogler, who also directed the original Black Panther.
Angela Bassett, who plays T’Challa’s mother aka Ramonda, and Winson Duke, who plays M’Baku, were both present at today’s panel.
The trailer features clips of Ramonda refusing foreign officials from gaining access to Vibranium and many action scenes featuring Wakanda’s army of female warriors.
Tributes to T’Challa are included in the trailer as well, something that has not been a secret through this whole process. Chadwick Boseman, who played T’Challa, passed away in 2020 from colon cancer and a central theme in the sequel is going to be the nation of Wakanda grieving T’Challa’s death.
Earlier in the weekend’s festivities, at the D23 Disney Legend’s induction ceremony, Boseman’s brother Derrick Boseman accepted an award on his behalf. Boseman stated in his speech that his brother’s absence is “a point of immense pain” for his entire family.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled to premiere on November 11, 2022.
