20th Century Fox has released a red band trailer for the new Vince Vaughn comedy Unfinished Business. The film follows an account executive (Vince Vaughn) who finds out he has to take a pay cut for the next year. Rather than take the smaller paycheck, he quits his job to form his own firm bringing the company’s oldest and youngest employees with him (Tom Wilkinson and Dave Franco respectively). The trio is on pace to land their first big account with a German company only to find out they are competing with their former firm, led by Sienna Miller and James Marsden.
This is Vaughn’s first R-Rated comedy since 2012’s The Watch. That and his past two films (Delivery Man and The Internship) failed to reach the level of his biggest hits, but it could help Vaughn to have Franco’s comedic energy and Wilkinson’s dramatic background – he plays Lyndon Johnson in the upcoming Selma – to play with. This is Franco’s biggest role since 2014’s Neighbors.
The film is directed by Ken Scott who directed Vaughn in Delivery Man. It’s clear from the trailer this won’t have the saccharine tone of the pair’s previous outing. The same goes for writer Steve Conrad who also wrote The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and the Will Smith father-son tale, The Pursuit of Happyness. Conrad is also writing the upcoming tennis comedy Match Maker starring Will Ferrell.
