Vertical has dropped the trailer for We Bury the Dead starring Daisy Ridley, Brenton Thwaites, and Mark Coles Smith. The zombie-survival film follows Ava Newman (Ridley) as she embarks on a desperate search for her missing husband.
The trailer opens with a terrifying sequence in which Ridley’s character dives into a bus with smashed-out windows while being pursued by a grotesque zombie. Her chilling scream comes as the result of an experimental weapon gone wrong. With Ava’s husband missing amidst a slew of zombies, she joins a body retrieval unit in hopes of finding him.
“I know what you’re going through, but if you find your husband, I hope you understand what that could mean,” she’s warned.
Together with her team, Ava searches through a world where the undead are becoming increasingly hostile. The zombies are depicted with grinding teeth, dislocated legs, and superhuman speed.
The film is written and directed by Australian director Zak Hilditch. Executive producers from notable horror films, It Lives Inside, Cuckoo, and Talk to Me, are also attached to the project.
We Bury the Dead is set to be released in the U.S. on January 2, 2026.
