Sony’s upcoming installment of the non-Spiderman-Spiderman villain franchise, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, has been delayed once more. This comes after the initial October 2020 release date was pushed back to June, and now once more to September 2021. Hopefully this will be the last delay.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage will see Tom Hardy‘s bumbling reporter Eddie Brock face off against Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady, who was teased in the post-credit scene of the original Venom.
This delay comes with little surprise as the summer movie season is still very much in question. COVID Vaccines are rising and cases are declining, but it is still unknown when life will truly return to normal, so this is a safe delay on Sony’s part.
The film is one of the most unique superhero movies coming out. Not only does it star A-List talent like Tom Hardy, Woody Harrelson, and Michelle Williams, but it also is one Andy Serkis’ big blockbuster debut. Serkis perviously directed smaller films as well as the CGI heavy Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, but the eclectic group of talent creating this Venom movie is truly fascinating to say the least.
It is unknown if this delay will create even more delays for big studios, but it will be interesting to find out. No Time to Die and Black Widow are still in their current release dates, while Venom: Let There Be Carnage is now set for a September 17, 2021 release date.
