Upcoming ‘Transformers’ Movies Include ‘Bumblebee’ Sequel and ‘Beast Wars’ Adaptation

Ever since the 2007 release of Michael Bay’s Transformers, the Transformers franchise has been easily one of the most profitable film franchises in recent memory. Despite negative critical reception to the majority of these entries, fans are still curious to see what will be the next major project featuring the Autobots and Decepticons. Fortunately, Paramount recently announced that two new Transformers-related projects are in the work.

The first film is a sequel to Bumblebee. Despite being not nearly as big of a hit as the other Transformers movie, Bumblebee ended up being the best reviewed film in the Transformers franchise with a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. . The second project is a film adaptation of the iconic Transformers spin-off series, Beast Wars. Much like the original cartoon and toy-line, Beast Wars still centers around giant robots transforming into things, though this time those things are robotic animals instead of vehicles.

The two projects in question, however, currently don’ have a director, screenwriter or actors attached at the moment. The only ones currently attached are John Wick 3 producer Joby Harold for Bumblebee 2 and Ready or Not producer James Vanderbilt for Beast Wars. Despite being in early production, fans are certainly intrigued by these films and what Paramount may do with Transformers next. There’s definitely more than meets the eye when it comes to what you can do with these giant robot films.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
